Job PurposeResponsible for purchasing stock and customer-order materials at competitive prices, while ensuring orders are placed and delivered on time.Key Responsibilities
Purchase stock according to replenishment requirements and customer orders.
Source suitable suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing and terms.
Monitor outstanding orders and follow up on deliveries.
Identify and communicate stock shortages, delays and supplier issues.
Monitor price changes and communicate relevant updates to sales teams.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier comparisons.
Ensure purchasing procedures and systems are followed correctly.
Identify and report system or process issues.
Perform other reasonable duties as required.
Strong communication and supplier relationship-building skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent telephone etiquette.
Good MS Excel skills and general computer literacy.
Experience with Pastel or similar systems.
Knowledge of steel products, descriptions and terminology.
Strong organisational and follow-up skills.
Honest, reliable and able to work calmly under pressure.
