ABOUT THE AIM PROGRAMME
The Mastercard Foundation Accelerating Impact for Young Women (AIM) Programme, implemented in partnership with BRAC, is a transformative initiative designed to support 2 million adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) across Africa with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to achieve sustainable economic and social empowerment. The nine-year programme (2021–2030) provides age-appropriate entrepreneurship, employability, and life-skills training, alongside targeted support to help young women start, strengthen, and grow their own livelihoods and businesses.
The programme builds on BRAC’s proven development approach, integrating interventions in youth empowerment, financial inclusion, agriculture, education, and skills development to improve the lives and economic prospects of young women and their communities. Currently implemented in seven African countries Sierra Leone, Liberia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, and Kenya the AIM Programme tailors its support based on the age, needs, and life circumstances of each participant.
To ensure relevant and impactful support, participants are placed in one of two pathways:
Education Pathway: Supports younger adolescents to remain in or return to school while building foundational life skills and resilience.

Livelihood Pathway: Supports older participants with entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, access to capital or productive assets, and business development support to enable sustainable income generation.
