Role Description This is a full-time remote Backend Engineer role focused on building and maintaining scalable services for SquarelyEdu’s school management, fintech, and health tech solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing backend APIs, developing secure and performant server-side logic, and integrating databases and third-party services. The Backend Engineer collaborates closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other team members to deliver reliable features, resolve technical issues, and improve existing functionality. The role also involves writing clean, well-documented code, conducting code reviews, optimizing system performance, and ensuring compliance with data privacy and security standards across the platform’s educational and financial products.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Back-End Web Development skills, including building RESTful or GraphQL APIs and integrating databases,node, express.js, drizzle orm connecting to a noen serverless postgresdb for the backend
- Candidates should possess solid Software Development skills, including designing scalable architectures and working with modern development frameworks.
- Candidates should possess Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills, with experience applying design patterns and writing maintainable, modular code.
- Candidates should possess Programming skills in one or more languages commonly used for backend services (e.g., Python, Node.js).
- Candidates should possess a practical understanding of Front-End Development concepts to collaborate effectively with UI engineers and support API integration.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, version control (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, and microservices architectures is an advantage.
- Background in edutech, fintech, or health tech domains, or experience working with sensitive data and security best practices, is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
