JOB PURPOSE

  • The Assistant Manager, Human Resources will support the Head, HR & Administration in the effective management of CIoD Nigeria's human capital, employee experience and administrative operations.
  • The role will coordinate key HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, employee relations and staff welfare. The role is expected to ensure timely, accurate and policy-compliant delivery of HR services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment, Onboarding & Records

  • Coordinate recruitment activities including vacancy identification, advertising, candidate screening, testing and interview administration.
  • Maintain accurate manpower and employee records and support approved staffing plans.
  • Coordinate offer documentation, onboarding, staff induction and orientation programmes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records and support payroll updates for joiners, changes and leavers.

Learning & Development

  • Support training needs assessment and the development of the annual staff learning and development plan.
  • Coordinate approved internal, external, in-house and e-learning programmes.
  • Coordinate training logistics, facilitator/institution engagement, attendance, feedback, records and implementation reports.
  • Manage relevant statutory training relationships and processes, including ITF requirements, where applicable.
  • Coordinate knowledge-sharing initiatives and other staff development activities.

Performance, Employee Relations & Welfare

  • Support the Institute's performance management and appraisal cycle and maintain accurate performance records.
  • Support the management of employee relations, staff concerns and grievances.
  • Coordinate staff welfare activities and employee-related programmes.
  • Support stay and exit interviews and contribute to initiatives that improve employee experience and working conditions.

COMPETENCY & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Good understanding of HR operations, principles and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within agreed timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, accountability and dependability.
  • Good supervisory capability and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant HR/administrative applications.

ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification in Human Resource Management, such as CIPM, is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years' work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in HR
  • Experience across recruitment, learning and development, performance management, employee relations and administration is desirable.
  • Experience in a professional or membership-based organisation is an advantage.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Timeliness and accuracy of HR and administrative deliverables.
  • Recruitment turnaround time and quality of staffing documentation.
  • Timely implementation and compliance with approved training plan/calendar.
  • Accuracy and completeness of personnel and HR records.
  • Timeliness of staff induction, onboarding and performance appraisal processes.
  • Employee welfare/service response time and employee satisfaction indicators.
  • Turnaround time for facilities, procurement and administrative requests.
  • Cost efficiency and accuracy of administrative expenditure/records.
  • Accuracy of inventory, stores, fleet and administrative databases.
